Ely Cathedral, Cambridgeshire, UK.

Back Right
All taken on a happy snapper camera, so poor quality to start with. These show the view of a buttress followed by some enlargements (not all successful). Even so it gives an idea of the number of gargoyles abounding here.

View from back right, looking over transept roof towards tower on right of front face   Modern crouching or squatting long snouted beast   Very weathered crouching? beast?   Another very weathered beast with hands/paws clasped   A scaly spined and webbed handed beast apparently roaring   Distant fuzzy thing, maybe a maned beast   Pointed ears flat against head and maybe squinting   A pig snouted, scaly long gargoyle, strangely with humanoid hands   Pointy eared and maybe grinning   No idea, make up your own captions for this one   Piggy like thing with big claws   Bizarre faced, scarily bizarre looking creature   Fuzzy and distant but maybe a gurner   Clothed and hooded, modern, with hand at throat, maybe singing   This looks as though it has a webbed mane, but that's just silly   Open mouthed, striated (showing fur?), long and lead topped   Another web handed possibly beared one   Another difficult to identify dog-like or pig-like thing   Round faced charicature?   View of back right side looking towards Octagon and transept, showing flying buttresses   Closer up view of one of the flying buttresses. The gargoyle on the centre sheds water from the near horizontal structure behind it.   Another buttress festooned with gargoyles   Grimacing almost cartoon like face, detail of previous buttress   Ugly bugger paired with yawning? toga clothed long one, detail of previous buttress   More buttresses with their central spouts   The buttress with the nose picker - hoorah   Leaning, open moughted human, detail of previous buttress   The nose picker   Buck toothed modern ugly one   View of inside corner of transept and Octagon, showing the headless very long guttering humanoid   Close up of the human with a hugely long gutter in place of a head   Another view of the ugly face and toga clad ones, different angle   Ugly demon with four sharp teeth, raising up on elbows   Another view of the buck toothed demon   The group that includes the toga clad one   The nose picker and four toothed demon buttress   Another angle on the four toothed elbowy demon   Another angle on the nose picker   Yet more buttresses and gargoyles   Very hard to see but looks like full breasted woman, very odd, probably my imagination   Buttresses with lots of impressively long gargoyles   Closeup of the fishy long gargoyle from previous buttress   Closeup of clothed and hooded human from previous buttress   View of all the buttresses nearest the Octagon (on back right side)

RH Transept
Just the view, no film for telephoto pics.
